And the Oscar goes to…

Posted on March 4, 2010 · Leave a Comment

Ok, all of this “Oscars” talk has got me in prime movie mode.  We know Avatar is probably going to clean up…and I can’t really argue against it.  Point blank: it was a cool movie.

On another note, I can’t wait for Brooklyn’s Finest to hit the theatre.  When it open’s up tomorrow evening (March 5) I’ll be there.  That’s my type of movie to the core.  Dark, edgy, cops-and-robbers inspired street drama with a complex twist.  If you haven’t seen the trailer, check it out right here:

Lastly, just heard that Oliver Stone has a new film in the works called Savages.  I’m not sure how far in development it is, but he’s supposed to be working on it after the release of his Wall Street sequel.  Here is movie description from moviefone.com

Savages tells the story of two men from Laguna Beach, California, who enjoy both the same girlfriend and a lucrative pot growing and distribution business. When they resist being muscled by a Mexican drug cartel, their girlfriend is kidnapped, with the ransom being every cent they’ve earned over the past five years. The two men then hatch a plan to rescue the girl, get revenge and get out of town.”

Sounds good, right?!?!  Another movie made distinctly for my viewing pleasure.  What do you think?  Does it sound like a winner?

If you’re like me, the shear thought of having to decorate your apartment is enough to make your mind spin.  For me, I just have too many tastes and I like too many different colors and styles.  Nothing would end up matching.

But beyond the aesthetic component to making your Uptown Buckhead spot look “cool”, there are a few modifications you can make to your space – especially if you have a limited amount, such as a studio apartment.  Check out these tips…and feel free to share your own ideas.

Think Our Traffic Is Bad?

Posted on February 16, 2010 · Leave a Comment

atlanta trafficWell, yeah because it is, but it turns out that Detroit and Tampa has Atlanta beat. Who knew that our commute wasn’t the worst? Truth be told, I still think it is because that’s the commute we have to take. I mean, if we weren’t in it we wouldn’t think it was bad either.

Part of the Forbes list of worst commutes claims that Atlanta is also among the worst for going green. Only a 13 percent of drivers have somone in the car with them and that just doesn’t seem right. Is carpooling really that hard? Or is it because after a long day of work we just want the radio and a little less conversation?

What do you think of the commute statistics?

CorinneBaileyRaeThe concert date is in May, but the time to get tickets to see Corrine Bailey Rae is now. Rae burst on the American music scene in 2006 with her self titled debut album.

Fresh from Britain she cracked the Top 20 with singles like ‘Put Your Records On’ and ‘Like A Star.’ Her follow-up album, Sea, continues to put Rae on the musical map and now she has announced a date in Atlanta, so you can see her perform live.

Do yourself a favor and get your ticket to see Corrine Bailey Rae at Center Stage on May 11. You could always use it as a great Valentines Day gift.

Feel free to share your opinion on her latest CD and tour with us on the blog, Facebook or Twitter.
