As you may know, Uptown Buckhead is currently collecting donations of non-perishable food items for Atlanta Food Bank to help those who were victims of the Tuscaloosa tornadoes. In existence since 1979, the organization has worked with over 700 nonprofit partner agencies in 38 Metro Atlanta and North Georgia counties. On an average month, Atlanta Food Bank distributes almost two million pounds of foods and grocery items to those in need. Assistance is provided to everything from food pantries to community kitchens to childcare centers and just about everything in between.
The organization sponsors several projects including The Atlanta Prosperity Campaign, Atlanta’s Table, Hunger 101, and the Hunger Walk/Run. Atlanta Food Bank is always looking for volunteers, whether they be groups or individuals. If you would like to learn more about Atlanta Food Bank, you can follow them on Facebook and Twitter.
